I’m a Public Affairs Specialist in the army national guard, and a few of my instructors at my army school (DINFOS @ ft Meade) told us that Social Media consultants are making good money at the moment. WE have youtube, facebook, etc. . However, in the past decade, more corporations and small businesses have quickly realized what an asset that world wide web social venues can be. How much time have you already wasted with social networking and not actually achieved anything? If your answer to this question is anything like mine then it is probably something along the lines of an awful lot.

I’ve struggled to see the value of social networking for business but I’m now starting to see the light and I’m finding that a combination of strategies is starting to have an effect. One thing is certainly however and that is it can suck up a lot of time without realizing it. The strategies are diametrically opposed but in order to get the most out of my efforts I have to say that it works.

The first point the scatter-gun approach and that is to make sure that you are getting the best output for the minimum input. In other words, whatever you write, whether it be a post to your blog, a page on your website or a Tweet, each and mostly all one of these must populate mostly all social networking platform that you are signed up to.

There are a number of tools that can help you do this and I’m assuming that you already have an RSS system on your website. RSS or “really simple syndication” allows you to publish content to other simply by the click of a button. It uses a technology named XML that allows other websites to access your content automatically with links back to your site. This is a win win because the receiving sites get fresh updates regularly so improving the dynamism of their sites and any new traffic that this generates, a proportion of it will come back to your site.

How do I know that this works? Quite simply if I write a new page for my website and I hit the RSS button I can check the number of page views and guaranteed it will be somewhere between 5% and 10% of the total page views on that day and when you consider that I have over 700 pages you can see that it’s a tremendous impact.

That’s the concept, how do you do it? Frankly I have not a clue, all I know is it works and it’s one of the most valuable tools that I have and I would strongly suggest that if you are looking to start a website that you find a website building system that incorporates RSS technology.

Once at this stage you can register your XML feed with Google Feedburner which is a great tool that allows you yo connect your feed with the most popular of the social networking Twitter, and from there all my Tweets are automatically posted to Facebook and LinkedIn using a service named Twitterfeed. Both Feedburner and Twitterfeed are free to use.

So that’s the scatter-gun approach to getting your message out there, the second approach is that of focus and target and this applies primarily to Twitter and that is to ensure that your activities here are directly focused on your niche market. Yes it sounds great to be able to tell your mates that you have 10,000 followers on Twitter but other than massaging your ego, does it actually achieve anything?

Getting followers on Twitter is about finding other Twitter accounts that are in your niche and it’s worth spending time finding the right pieces of software that can help you do this. There are some Twitter tools out there that frankly aren’t worth what they are trying to charge you but others do actually work. At least by doing it this way you know that when you do engage in further conversation with someone on Twitter that they are in your target market.

So in summary, fire your message out there to as many people as you can, then close in using Twitter to build relationships in your niche and use the technology that’s available to do it otherwise you’ll quickly waste a lot of time and achieve nothing.

The United States is one the world’s most ethnically diverse Nations; the United States attracts immigrants from several countries. But, how does it accommodate all these immigrants without knowing English and the culture? Because of the large number of immigrants entering the United States, bilingual education is a very important topic that is being debated. Bilingual education refers to an educational program in which both a native language and a second language are taught as a subject matter and used as media of instruction for academic subjects such as math, science and social studies. (Greene, Jay. ) In the United States the tradition of public bilingual education began during the 1840’s as a response to the large number of non- English- speaking immigrants entering the country. (US History Encyclopedia. ) Even though many think that bilingual education programs are good, the disadvantages of bilingual education programs outnumber the advantages. Non-English speaking students in bilingual education programs have shown no academic or social improvement compared to similar students in English-only schools. ( Crawford, J. Personal communication. ) Many non-native English speaking students have succeed without attending a bilingual education programs. Studies have shown that a large number of students attending bilingual education programs end up dropping out of school. (US History Encyclopedia. ) After many years of bilingual education in the United States, one thing is certain that it doesn’t work. It’s failing America’s immigrants. However, many might disagree with this statement and may think that Bilingual Education is a successful program. Advocates of an all-English approach say that bilingual education with native language instruction, harms children’s academic performance, prolongs the time it takes them to learn English, and delays their integration with other students. Critics of bilingual education maintain that the best way of teaching English to non-English speakers is not to instruct them in their home language but instead to immerse them in English class. If the students are instructed in their native language they won’t have the need and the desire to learn English because they won’t be worried about anything. However, I chose to believe that we should keep bilingual education out of the United States because of the high cost to taxpayers. Also, bilingual education programs need to be removed so that the English language can once again be the dominant and official language of the United Sates. Opponents have claimed that promoting languages other than English would result in national disunity, inhibiting children’s social mobility, and work against the rise of English as a world language. Because we don’t have enough qualified bilingual teachers to meet the needs of the students, it undermines a core foundation that America has. If one wants to be in this country they at least should learn the language. According to Lidia, an eighth grade substitute teacher, “ I don’t like the idea of bilingual education, there is no way for a student to learn English while speaking their native language. If non-English-speaking students are isolated in foreign-language classrooms, how are they ever going to learn English?” In other words, she is saying that the best way children learn English is in a classroom that is unilingual. I agree with Lidia because many people have succeed without bilingual education programs. I was a bilingual student too but I learned English like other students, taking all the courses in English. The cost of bilingual education alone is something that should concern our nation greatly. It has been said that bilingual education costs far more than English language instruction. Bilingual education requires additional staff training, instructional materials and administration; therefore these programs cost more than the regular English programs. Laura, a school librarian, says, “What about the pay the teachers get?, they would want more money and we as citizens will have to pay more in taxes to these schools. ” I agree because I don’t think the government has all that money to support the bilingual education, and the money that the government would spend on bilingual education it could be spend on something useful like books, or creating a better environment etc. Bilingual education is still a bad idea for the country because bilingualism threatens to weaken our sense of national identity and divide us along ethnic lines. This happens because we will follow the path that is easier for us, which is being with our own people, speaking the same language and sharing the same culture. This divides us along ethnic lines. The government’s recognition of minority languages sends the wrong message to immigrants, encouraging them to believe they can live in the United States without learning English or conforming to American ways. While the government is only trying to help them learn English faster so they could succeed in school or work, the immigrants misinterpret the message and think that the government is fully supporting them and giving them the idea that they could live in this country without learning the language. Also, by having a bilingual education program it will be hard for the immigrants to learn English because they will chose to use the easiest language that is for them, their native language. For instance, in the article “Aria”, Richard for a long time chose not to learn English because he thought that it was easier for him to speak Spanish his home language, but once he learned English that was it. English was his new home language. Languages are an important part of a regular school curriculum, however, they should be electives, and not have funding set aside for them. There are many benefits learning another language. It helps you by making you more familiar with another culture, and sharpens your analytical skills. But, if bilingual education is going to be part of the requirements, we would have to include every known language to make it equal. Bilingual education programs will not help a non- English speaker student learn as much English as he would learn in immersion programs. Students learn from each other by talking and practicing English with each other. Also, when they hear all their classmates talk only English they learn faster because they actually think of what is being said. On the other hand, in bilingual education programs they are taught in both languages, their native language and English. So they don’t actually process it on their minds because they are learning the easiest way but they are not truly understanding. And so today I found out that… It the beginning, you need to reword a little bit, usa doesn’t have a national language, like spain’s is spanish, we have not titled english as the national language. get rid of all your ‘, like not don’t but do not you have a couple “I”, this is your paper, so you dont need to add I to anything, same thing goes for adding, I dont think, or my opinion is . . . Overall, you have a solid paper. There are any flow issues, none that I remember now, but try reading your paper out loud, it is definitely an a or b level essay, it was informative and well-documented. Social Media Atlanta

I was born in Georgia and lived there most of my life. Three years ago I enrolled at the Art Institute of Atlanta and after two years earned my degree in media arts and animation, afterwords I enrolled at the Academy of Art University, I moved to San Francisco a few weeks later to get settled in and before I knew it I was studying in the nation’s largest private art and design university, but all was not well because the people of San Fran can be some haughty a$$holes. They enjoy nothing more than teasing me for my accent, and commonly ask my opinion of world and social events just to mock me for not sharing their extreme leftist views (odd considering they are supposed to be so open-minded), they always make fun of where I come from because it’s just not cosmopolitan enough for them. Not that I haven’t made any friends – but most of them are foreign ecshange I can’t chalk them up for the city itself. Why do they close their minds when all I do is open mine to them. Well, I have your answer. You are a very fortunate person. I know that sounds silly, but you are in a perfect place in life. If you are being hated in any way, then consider yourself lucky. Jesus himself was hated, tortured and killed because of whoever He was. This is what I mean: “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say most types of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven. ” (Matthew 5:11) Jesus said these very words and if He can go through the torture and endure it, so can we. I hope that you will continue to see through the hatred and don’t give up. You will be okay. I went through it too. . For over 40 yrs. I ended up just fine. Happy, even.
